Villanova Junction Live Session

This weekend, Sarasota's Villanova Junction stopped by the Mike Eisenstadt Live Music Studio here at the WMNF compound, and treated us to three examples of the particular brand of organ-fueled yowling. Ryan, Erin, Julian, and Miranda The Reluctant Tambourinist couldn't have been friendlier or more gracious. We hope to see more of them up in our neck of the woods, but if you're a denizen of the area south of Tampa Bay, you can see them at Burns Court Theatre on January 24th. They'll be holding their CD release party and soundtracking a selection of films, some of which may contain naked clowns performing trapeze acts while drinking red wine and wearing black sunglasses.

Thanks, as always, to Stephen Hammill for engineering the session beautifully with his signature scowl.

Giddy Up, Helicopter! Live at Creative Loafing

I helped Stephen Hammill and Joran Oppelt to record the first full (meaning "with a drummer") band session over at the new studio they've set up at Creative Loafing. It came out splendidly, and was captured on video by all-around good guy Clint. This song is called Moggies, and it makes me excited to hear Giddy Up's album, Something That Needs Nothing, which should be released soon.
