Good day, sirs and madams. The show was wonderful this morning. I attempted to play a Dirty Projectors song a couple times, but instead it just skipped beautifully for a few seconds. Speaking of the Projectors, they were supposed to play with Hella at Crowbar this Thursday past, but had to postpone because a death in the family. Being such stand-up folks, they made up the show right away by taking part in the after-party following the Six Parts Seven show on Saturday. Well done.

- Also, if you will indulge a moment of shameless self-promotion, my band, Incredible Crisis is playing this here upcoming show:

We're playing with a couple of bands that we admire the Hell out of (my apologies, I meant, "a couple of bands out of which we admire the Hell"), namely Cinemechanica and Dear + Glorious Physician. That is not to say that we are not fans of the other bands, just that we are not nearly as well acquainted with their work. Perhaps after April 19th, we can make lofty claims as to their musical prowess as well. This will surely not be the last time I tell you about this event.

More news to come when I'm less tired. Here's what this morning's broadcast looked like from the inside.

Looks like there's no archive available this week. The WMNF website was being vamped and re-vamped, thus interrupting that particular service in the interest of the greater good. Here is the playlist, though. I would recommend a critical analysis.

I would also like to add that The Universe needs to work overtime for the rest of the year to find a way to top getting to see both So Many Dynamos and Hella in the same week.

Show News

This week I will be doing the Wednesday morning edition of Pre-Dawn Alternatives. Alex Spoto has kindly agreed to swap days with me so that I might enjoy the So Many Dynamos show on Monday night at the State Theatre.

Alex just started doing his show in January of this year, but has already established himself as cool-in-my-book by wearing a Dr. Dog when we met. Good lookin' out. Alex. He also has a fantastic band called Roppongi's Ace, whose music I would recommend you give a gander. There are three guys in the band, and they're all in high school. They are, of course, well ahead of the curve. Nicely played, boys.

You can check out Roppongi's Ace and a pile of other acts, local and imported, at WMNF's 26th Annual Tropical Heatwave. I'd be lying if I told you that I was familiar with all of these bands, but you shouldn't take my word for it anyway. Make plans to come out. It's always a great party.

- In more pressing matters. Hella will be at Crowbar this Thursday with Dirty Projectors and Who's Your Favorite Son, God?. I stand by that punctuation.

It's one of those shows that you will regret not going to. Here is some data for you to process.

Monday, March 19th

$12 - Day of Show
Doors open 7:00PM

Next Monday St. Petersburg will be graced with a performance by St. Louis' So Many Dynamos (that's a palindrome, kids). I must recommend this show with everything I have. Their music is many things to many people. It can be twitchy and mathy, then funky and dancy. The comparisons to Dismemberment Plan cannot be ignored, but they are far less annoying, trust me. I have no particular soft spot in my heart for Travis Morrison. He never hurt me, but I guess I just didn't get it. So Many Dynamos, although direct descendants of that sound, meld their various influences into a stew that I find much tastier altogether. Check out their myspace page. It has some great songs on it for your perusal.

- In other news, as I promised on my show this morning, Stereogum is where you can go for some sweet remixes of Under Byen's "Af Samme Stof som Stof". Enjoy. More to come.
